Meet The Team
Two men who found hope at Andy's Man Club and are now giving back by supporting others on the same path.

Hi, I'm Dave
Facilitator, Andy's Man Club Thirsk
Between 2007 and 2012, I struggled deeply with my mental health. Things I witnessed and experienced in the emergency services left me carrying trauma I didn't realise or know how to process. Combined with personal and financial struggles, I reached a crisis point—and in 2012, I almost took my own life on my way home from work. I honestly (and wrongly) believed my kids and my Mrs would be better off if I wasn't here.
Thankfully, I was unsuccessful. Soon after, I sought help and was diagnosed with depression, PTSD, and burnout. That marked the beginning of my journey to recovery —one that included a career change and a total lifestyle reset.
In 2021, I discovered Andy's Man Club on a Facebook post. I realised that if it had existed back in 2007–2012, just having that safe space to talk might've stopped me from hitting rock bottom. I knew then that I had to be part of it to help other men going through a storm.
AMC is something incredible—men who truly listen, never judge, and just get it. Knowing that support is always there is powerful.

Hi, I'm Steve
Facilitator, Andy's Man Club Thirsk
I first came to Andy's Man Club looking for somewhere I could talk — somewhere I could open up about my PTSD from my time in the forces, and from things I experienced growing up.
From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted better than I ever imagined. Dave and Ross made me feel welcome, and each week they — along with everyone else — have helped me grow. Helped me come out of my shell. It's become easier to talk, easier to share, because I know I'm surrounded by people who get it.
Andy's Man Club is more than just a group. It's a community. A family. A safe place where you're truly listened to — without judgment.
What I really value is that there's no pressure. You don't have to speak. You can just sit and listen. It's confidential, it's respectful, and it's real.
It's a reset. If you've had a tough week, you can come in and get things off your chest.
Why This Matters to Us
Week after week, men walk through the doors of Andy's Man Club carrying silent struggles and leave feeling a little lighter, because someone listened.
Both Dave and Steve know this transformation personally. They've been on both sides - as men who needed help and as facilitators providing support. They understand the weight of silence and the power of being heard.
This 24-hour walk isn't just about raising money - it's about raising awareness. It's about showing men that it's okay to not be okay, and that help is available. Every step they take represents hope for someone who might be struggling right now.
They're walking for the dads, brothers, sons, and friends who feel like no one understands. Because talking really can save lives.
About Andy's Man Club
A place where men can talk openly about their mental health without fear of judgment
Andy's Man Club facilitates groups where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their issues in a non-judgmental environment through shared experiences.
Groups run nationwide every Monday 7pm except bank holidays and are completely volunteer-led with no charge to any man.
The club was founded following the suicide of Andy Roberts in 2016, with the mission to reduce the number of men taking their own lives through the power of conversation.
